We had our own booth set up, where we had:
- a game wheel with questions about climate change and climate action.
- a board and sticky notes for questions and answers.
- 120 packs of seeds which we gave away as prizes (no matter if you got the question right or not!)
- a draw for a bag of goodies (two books about climate change and climate action, a reusable bottle, pins, and a monkey!)
- A board with six important things we can do to help the environment right now!
- A 7 foot painted sign showing how much the water can rise in different parts of the world.
We had a big surprise -- the Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, the Honorable Jennifer Whiteside, came to give us a special award, for being involved in the 22nd Station Area efforts. That was amazing!
The mayor of New Westminster, the Honourable Patrick Johnstone, also showed up to give a speech about an amazing grant the City of New Westminster received for youth engagement in Climate Action. New Westminster was one of 100 cities chosen around the world for this grant, and only six in Canada!
After the mayor gave a speech, we also gave our own speech calling for ACTION!!!
Next year, we hope even more people come -- we had quite a few seed packs left over! :D
