The Beehive
The Youth Climate Forum gave our club a grant and asked us to think of something we could do to make a difference. We watched so many workshops and came out with excellent ideas to work with... and we even got a free Lomi to compost things the right way!
After doing a lot of research and a presentation to our principal, we managed to get a beehive for our school, as well as planting a pollinator garden at the front to use all that nice compost material.
Because of the way our school is built, we could not get the original beehive we wanted, but we have a beehive now which will be housed in the neighborhood, and it will visit our school often (thanks to a portable observational hive we purchased with a grant from LSF!)
The video to the right has the slideshow we used to convince our awesome principal. Below, the hive unpacking!
More photos of the hive and garden will come as we continue working on this project.
