LGBTQIA2+

KIDS JUST LIKE YOU

Picture
Imagine if people bullied you for having ten fingers.

Imagine that you see on the media, full-grown adults against you, and saying how having ten fingers is a sin.

Maybe you even hear your parents saying bad things about people with ten fingers, and so you pretend to have nine like everyone else.

You have heard horrible stories -- people who get kicked out of their homes for having ten fingers. People who get fired for it. People who get bullied everyday!

But you know there is nothing wrong with having ten fingers.

It's no one's business how many fingers you have -- it affects them in NO WAY!

It's just what you were born with, right?

Watch the short video below and learn more about being part of the LGBTQIA2+ community.

Being part of the LGBTQIA2+ community can be very lonely, because it's not like people can tell we're queer right away. We also don't know who is an ally or not.

Which is why clubs such as the GSA club are so important.

Meanwhile, outside of the safety of our friends and allies, we get the constant message that being queer is somehow wrong.

That's the thing. When you say "that's so gay" you are telling people that you think being gay is wrong or bad.

Most people have stopped saying this, but they still say "No homo" whenever they hug a friend or say they look good today. Like, so what if you were queer?

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT, just like there is nothing wrong with having ten fingers. So, BE KIND and stop using words that hurt others.

Your best friend could be queer and you might not know it -- and now that they have seen you joke about it, they will never have the courage to tell you. Meanwhile every time you make fun of queer people, you are hurting your friend.

You shouldn’t judge someone just because they are different. It's just like racism.

It is not ok to treat people differently because they are different than you.

Now, many people get confused on what every colour and flag means.

You can look below to find out more about the flags and colours, and what they mean.
